How is spunbond nonwoven fabric produced?
Spunbond is a nonwoven fabric produced by melting polypropylene (or polyester) pellets using heat and then passing them through a spinneret that creates thousands of extremely fine filaments. A blast of cold air solidifies these filaments, which fall randomly but with uniform thickness onto a conveyor belt. Finally, this web passes between two heated cylinders called calenders, which fuse the filaments at their points of contact, transforming the soft web into a strong, compact fabric.
